INTRODUCTION
Human Concern Foundation International (HCFI), is a Non-governmental organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. HCFI is devoted to providing relief to people encountering various forms of disaster and difficulty, striving to alleviate poverty and suffering around the world regardless of colour, race or religion. It specialises in, health and nutrition, education & training, water & sanitation, income generation for those in dire need.

ANNUAL BREAKFAST MEETING
The annual breakfast meeting of HCFI took place on Sunday the January 27, 2019 at the residence of the Executive Director of HCFI, Dr Ibrahim Oreagba. The objective of the meeting was to review the planned programmes for the year and brainstorm on their successful implementation in line with the overall mission and vision of the foundation. Nine members were in attendance.
MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
Several medical outreach programs took place in the year under review both within and outside Lagos
LAGOS STATE
- IMOTA IKORODU
HCFI in collaboration with Tranquil Heart Foundation at Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria organized Medical caravan on Sunday January 27, 2019 at the AUDS central Mosque community Imota. The total number of patients attended to was 280, while the number of medical personnel presented were 25. The health talk was delivered by Dr Abdulwahab Egberongbe on vital health tips for hypertension and diabetes Patients were screened and treated for various health conditions. All drugs were provided free of charge.
- OGIJO IKORODU
A free health service programme was organized in collaboration with the Muslim Community Ogijo central Mosque, Sunday March 10 2019. The free health service consist of free medical consultations and free medical screening including blood pressure check, random blood sugar and malaria parasite test. Mr Daud Zubair anchored the program along with Mr Alabi. About 130 people benefited from the programme with 7 medical personnel in attendance.
- MAINLAND LG
HCFI collaborated with Nigerian Railway Muslim Community to organize a pre-Ramadan medical caravan facilitated by the Muslim Congress Mainland Local government at the Mosque premises on Sunday April 14, 2019 The free health service consist of free medical consultations and free medical tests including blood pressure check and random blood sugar. A total of 638 people benefited from the programme which had Medical doctors, Pharmacists Pharmacy technicians, medical laboratory scientists, community health officer and paramedical personnel in attendance (Dentists=5, Optometrists=3, Medical Lab. Officers =6, Pharmacist=4, Medical doctors=5, Nurses=3, Blood drive staff=13 and other support staff=8 totalling (48). The Health talk was delivered by the Head of the Lagos State blood transfusion service
Outcome
Free eye screening and distribution of reading glasses for 50 people, while 118 people benefited from this eye drops and drugs
Dental screening:38people were attended to, 28 tooth extractions, 2 referrals and 8 reviewed cases.
Blood donor exercise in partnership with Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service: Total no of 49 were screened thoroughly only 39 were fit to donate.30 males and 9 females
PRE-RAMADAN MEDICAL CHECK UP AT LASTMA
HCFI organized a Pre-Ramadan comprehensive free medical checkup in collaboration with LASTMA Muslim Community on Sunday May 4, 2019.. A total of 420 people were screened. Tests include HIV, Hepatitis, Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Urinalysis amongst others. A health talk was given by Dr Sanni Suleiman. A total of twenty three health care providers participated in the program
HCFI in collaboration with Patience Medicare organized a free health care service at Jebba Muslim Community Mosque Akoka on 30th April, 2019. Twenty ones (21) persons donated blood, seventy eight (78) received eye screening and 138 had the
general test, every participant received free consultation and free drugs. The health talk was delivered by Dr Abdulwasii Badru on depression, causes and management.
PRISON VISITATION
Kirikiri
HCFI in collaboration with Zakat and Sadaqat foundation organized a Prison Visitation at the Kirikiri medium prisons Apapa Lagos, on Sunday March 24, 2019. Medicines, Surgicals and toiletries were donated. A prayer and counselling session was held with about 50 Muslim inmates.
BOREHOLE PROJECT
Kirikiri Prisons
HCFI facilitated the fund raising and construction of a borehole for the inmates use at the Kirikiri medium prisons Apapa Lagos. The borehole was funded by a medical practitioner and his wife who chose to remain anonymous
Makoko Community
HCFI facilitated the fund raising and construction of a borehole for the inmates use. The borehole was funded by a philanthropist who also chose to remain anonymous
Badagry Prisons
HCFI also funded and facilitated the renovation of ablution centre at Badagry prisons
on Sunday March 31, 2019.
Alagbado Community
HCFI is currently raising funds towards the construction of a borehole identified at Alagbado community, Lagos State.
MEDICAL SUPPORT
The some of N180,000.00 was raised from some donors to facilitate surgical procedure for a patient at Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta which took place October 7, 2019. Patient is stable and recovering well.
EDUCATION SUPPORT
The sum of N1,325,000.00 naira was donated over a period of 23 months by a philantropist towards supporting the education of promising indigent students. About seventeen students have benefitted so far from the scheme with the sum of N1,033,600.00
disbursed so far.
MEDICAL CONFERENCE
The annual medical conference of the CMP took place at Ilaji hotel, Ibadan Oyo State on the 31st August to 1st September 2019. Scientific session, syndicate and networking sessions. Several presentations on capacity building, entrepreneurship and personal development were made. HCFI ED, Dr Ibrahim Oreagba made a presentation titled ‘Tapping into the world of Pharmaceuticals’
GRANT PROPOSAL WITH SAP FOR USAID
ED, HCFI in collaboration with Social Advocacy Project and some HCFI members abroad are preparing a concept note for a USAID funded grant towards reducing the burden of Tuberculosis. To be submitted by November 9, 2019
HCFI Audited accounts (2016-2018) is ready, and will soon be available to the public
UPCOMING PROGRAMS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR
1. Visitation to Prisons and Orphanage homes in Kaduna State, November 6, 2019 (in collaboration with Muslim Pharmacists Association of Nigeria)
2. Walk for life program November 24, 2019 Lagos State and Osun State
CHALLENGES
The main challenge of the foundation is funding and lack of adequate number of committed volunteers.
