INTERNATIONAL FOR THE YEAR 2020

 

 

INTRODUCTION

Human Concern Foundation International (HCFI), is a Non-governmental organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. HCFI is devoted to providing relief to people encountering various forms of disaster and difficulty, striving to alleviate poverty and suffering around the world regardless of colour, race or religion.  It specialises in, health and nutrition, education & training, water & sanitation, income generation for those in dire need.

ANNUAL BREAKFAST MEETING

The annual breakfast meeting of HCFI took place on Sunday February 2, 2020 at the residence of the Executive Director of HCFI, Prof Ibrahim Oreagba. The objective of the meeting was to review the planned programmes for the year and brainstorm on their successful implementation in line with the overall mission and vision of the foundation. Eleven members were in attendance. 

 

MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

Only one of the Several medical outreach programs planned for the year took place in the year under review due to the COVID 19 pandemic

             

MAKOKO COMMUNITY

HCFI in collaboration with Tranquil Heart Foundation organized a Medical caravan on Sunday January 25, 2020  at Makoko Community Yaba Lagos. The total number of patients attended to was 450, while the number of medical personnel presented were 27. The health talk was delivered by Dr Abdulwahab Egberongbe on vital health tips for hypertension and diabetes. Patients were screened and treated for various health conditions. All drugs were provided free of charge.

 

 

COVID 19 PROGRAMMES

HCFI launched awareness campaign on social media through colourful posters aimed at educating the public on preventive measures against COVID 19

 

HCFI joined the Muslim Coalition against COVID to raise funds to purchase and distribute palliatives during the early phase of the pandemic April 2020

 

The HCFI Executive Director presented a health talk titled  “Potential for African traditional medicine as alternatives in the treatment of COVID 19’ organized by the Centre for Policy initiatives in Africa July 12 2020. He alsomade a presentation at a radio programme Traditional medicine and COVID 19 demerits and perspective of Prophetic medicine’ during the month of Ramadan. 

 

MEDICAL SUPPORT

      HCFI facilitated fund raising to the tune of N2,000,000.00 for Mr Tajudeen Mustapha's Craniotomy surgical procedure. 

      HCFI supported "The Torch Bearers organization to raise the sum of N3,138,400.00 for a Ms Assist Lawal spinal surgical procedure. 

      The sum of N2.600,000 was also realised to support the hip surgery for Mr Habibla Busari 

      The sum of N145,000 was realised towards the hospital discharge bill of Mrs Monsurah Ottun

      The sum of N200,000.00 was also donated to support a cancer patient 25000.00 for glasses for glaucoma patients. 

      HCFI was instrumental to the Recognition Award to TMC Mushin Local Government by Lagos State Blood Transfusion Department due to mass mobilization of blood donors and effective collaboration

 

EDUCATION SUPPORT

HCFI scholarship program has supported twenty four (24) indigent students since inception in the year 2018 to date. The initiative is being funded by an HCFI member in diaspora.

 

      Total Income  - N1,975,000.00

      Total Disbursement - N1,940,600.00

      Balance as at 14/11/2020 - 34,400

      Total number of beneficiaries - 24


BOREHOLE PROJECT 

HCFI constructed a borehole at Abule Ijesha Bariga Lagos. This was courtesy of a philanthropist

 

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT 

HCFI participated along with other NGOs in the webinar on Human Capital

Development project in Nigeria September 2020

VISITATION TO ORPHANAGE HOMES

HCFI in collaboration with theMuslim Pharmacists Association of Nigeria visited the FOMWAN Orphanage home Osun state Oshogbo November 12, 2020. The sum of 300 thousand was donated.

 

WALK FOR LIFE PROGRAM. The HCFI/CGPI annual walk for life event did not hold due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

 

CHALLENGES

The COVID 19 pandemic hindered most of our field programs like free medical caravans and prison visitations

Inadequate funding of HCFI initiatives is also a challenge
