INTERNATIONAL FOR THE YEAR 2021

 

INTRODUCTION

Human Concern Foundation International (HCFI), is a Non-governmental organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. HCFI is devoted to providing relief to people encountering various forms of disaster and difficulty, striving to alleviate poverty, and suffering around the world regardless of color, race or religion.  It specializes in, health and nutrition, education & training, water & sanitation, income generation for those in dire need.

ANNUAL BREAKFAST MEETING

The annual breakfast meeting of HCFI took place on Sunday February 28, 2021 virtually via Zoom platform and was presided by the Executive Director of HCFI, Prof Ibrahim Oreagba. The objective of the meeting was to review the planned programmes for the year and brainstorm on their successful implementation in line with the overall mission and vision of the foundation. Twenty-one members were in attendance. 

 

MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

Few of the Several medical outreach programs planned for the year took place in the year under review due to the COVID 19 pandemic

 

LASTMA 

HCFI in collaboration with the Lagos state transport management authority 

The Muslim Congress organized a Pre-Ramadan Medical caravan on Saturday April 3, 2021 at Jakande Central Mosque Premises. The total number of 234 people were attended to and health education was also provided.

 

MUSLIM NEWS NIGERIA AWARD CEREMONY 

HCFI in collaboration with the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria Lagos State chapter organized a medical outreach on 18th April,2021 at Old secretariat central Mosque hall on the occasion of Muslim news Nigeria (MNN) 3rd anniversary/award ceremony. Routine investigation conducted include blood pressure and fasting blood sugar/Random blood sugar. Nose mask and hand sanitizers were provided for all the attendees of the occasion asides from our clients. Counselling and medical advice was also provided. Total number of clients attended to were forty seven.

 

LAGOS ISLAND COMMUNITY

HCFI in collaboration with The Muslim Congress organized a Medical caravan on Saturday October 2, 2021 at Jakande Central Mosque Premises. The total number of patients attended to was 550, while the number of medical personnel presented were 37. The health talk was delivered by Dr Abdulateef Akegbelaiye on vital health tips and adhering to the COVID-19 protocol. Patients were screened and treated for various health conditions. All drugs were provided free of charge.

 

MUSLIM HOSPITAL SAKI IN COLLABORATION WITH ISLAMIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (IMAN)

HCFI supported the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria to organize a medical and surgical outreach program on Saturday  December 11, 2021. Report is enclosed

 

MEDICAL AND SUGICAL OUTREACH AT ABEOKUTA IN COLLABORATION WITH MEDICAL WELFARE FOUNDATION

HCFI supported the Common Health Foundation to organize a medical and surgical outreach program on Saturday December 4-5, 2021. Report is enclosed

 

MEDICAL SUPPORT

1.      HCFI facilitated fund raising to the tune of N2,800,000.00 for Mr Mikail Bello’s Spinal stenosis surgical procedure. 

2.      The sum of N200,000 was also realised to support Mrs Babalola for her chronic Diabetes treatment

3.      The sum of N190,000.00 was raised to support  for brother Abdulwasiu

Shanu’s spinal surgery


BOREHOLE PROJECT 

HCFI secured the sum of 500,000 for construction of a borehole This was courtesy of a philanthropist. We are currently looking for a suitable site

 

EDUCATION SUPPORT

HCFI scholarship program has supported thirty one (31) indigent students since inception in the year 2018 to date. The initiative is being funded by some HCFI members in diaspora.

      Total Income  - N2,816,000.00

      Total Disbursement - N2.808,900

      Balance as at 06/11/2020 – 7,100

      Total number of beneficiaries - 31

 

CONFERENCE AND CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT 

HCFI participated along with other NGOs in the Common Health Foundation Medical Professionals Conference September 17-19, 2021 Mokland Hotel Ibara GRA and delivered a paper titled  ‘Research in Healthcare: The making of a trail blazer” 

 

He also delivered a webinar titled ‘My Journey in academic and research: Opportunities, Challenges and lessons for aspiring Muslim academics October 31, 2021.

 

WALK FOR LIFE EVENT. The HCFI/CGPI annual walk for life event held on Sunday October 24, 2021 in collaboration with the congress guard department of the Muslim Congress. The event was well attended with over 500 participants. Sponsors and partners included LASTMA, LASPARK Gardens, Lagos state Primary healthcare board, Halal Certification Authority, Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, Hajj Mabrur Ventures, Pillbox Pharmacy, Albarakah microfinance bank amongst others.

Religious bodies like FOMWAN, NASFAT and AL-MUMINAT were also represented.

 

VISITATION TO PORTHARCOURT PRISONS

HCFI in collaboration with theMuslim Pharmacists Association of Nigeria visited the Portharcourt prisons, Portharcourt Rivers State November 3, 2021. The sum of two hundred and eighty four thousand worth of medicines and toiletries was donated

 

CHALLENGES

The COVID 19 pandemic hindered some of our field programs like free medical caravans and prison visitations

Inadequate funding of HCFI initiatives was also a challenge
