INTRODUCTION
Human Concern Foundation International (HCFI), is a Non-governmental organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission. HCFI is devoted to providing relief to people encountering various forms of disaster and difficulty, striving to alleviate poverty, and suffering around the world regardless of color, race or religion. It specializes in, health and nutrition, education & training, water & sanitation, income generation for those in dire need.

ANNUAL BREAKFAST MEETING
The annual breakfast meeting of HCFI took place on Sunday February 11, 2024 physically at the Halal Certification Office Anthony Lagos. Meeting was presided by the Executive Director of HCFI, Prof Ibrahim Oreagba. The objective of the meeting was to review the planned programmes for the year and brainstorm on their successful implementation in line with the overall mission and vision of the foundation. Nineteen members were in attendance.
PRE-RAMADAN MEDICAL OUTREACHES
COLLABORATION WITH ALHAJI OGUNLADE FOUNDATION
HCFI in collaboration with the above foundation organized a Pre-Ramadan Medical caravan on January 13, 2024. at no 41 Idumagbo Avenue, Adeniji. The total number of 250 persons people were attended to and health education was also provided. Medical tests provided include blood pressure, hepatitis B and fasting blood sugar. The medical outreach come to an end at about 2:30pm. Eight HCFI volunteers were present.
COLLABORATION WITH LAGOS STATE TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY (LASTMA)
HCFI in collaboration with Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA) organized a pre-Ramadan medical caravan on Friday, 23rd February 2024 at the LASTMA headquarters, Oshodi, Lagos State. The total number of patients attended to were 329, while the number of medical personnel present were 10. The health talk was delivered by Mr Isiaq Saba on importance of medical check up and wellness, patients were screened and treated for various health conditions, all drugs were provided free of charge. There were 19 referrals to General Hospitals mostly for follow up cases like hypertension and hepatitis B positive.
Tests carried out include Fasting Blood Sugar/Random Blood Sugar - 300 clients, Urinalysis - 100 clients, and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) -100 clients. A total of 350 children were dewormed.
COLLABORATION WITH THE MUSLIM CONGRESS, LAGOS STATE
HCFI in collaboration with The Muslim Congress Lagos State organized a pre-Ramadan medical caravan on 3rd of March, 2024 at the TMC Dawah Center Ijesha Lagos State.
The total number of patients attended to were 236, while the number of medical personnel present were 10. Patients were screened and treated for various health conditions, all drugs were provided free of charge.
Tests carried out include Fasting Blood Sugar/Random Blood Sugar - 150 clients, Urinalysis - 100 clients, Helicobacter pylori(ulcer) screening for 50 persons, Blood pressure (All). There was free distribution of mosquito nets
COLLABORATION WITH THE MUSLIM CONGRESS, IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAGOS STATE
HCFI in collaboration with The Muslim Congress Ikorodu Local Government Lagos State organized a pre-Ramadan medical caravan on 3rd of March, 2024 at the TMC Ikorodu Dawah Center Itamaga junction, Ikorodu Lagos State.
The total number of patients attended to were 83, while the number of medical personnel present were 5. Patients were screened and treated for various health conditions, all drugs were provided free of charge.
VISIT TO CORRECTIONAL CENTRE
HCFI had a welfare visitation in collaboration with The Muslim Congress (TMC) Lagos State to Ikoyi correctional centre on March 9th 2024.
COLLABORATION WITH ISLAMIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (IMAN) LAGOS STATE FOR RAMADAN MEDICAL OUTREACHES (BARAKAH TRAIN)
HCFI members also attended and participated actively during the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Lagos State chapter medical outreach in the month of Ramadan 1443AH as follows:
Mushin /Idi-Araba Muslim community on Sunday 10th march, 2024. - 8 HCFI members participated
Ikoyi correctional facilities, Sunday 17th march, 2024 - 10 HCFI members participated
Bayeku/ Ikorodu Muslim Community, on Sunday 24th March 2024 - 8 HCFI members attended
Aradagun/Badagry Muslim Community on Sunday, 31st March 2024 - 8 HCFI members attended.
OTHER MEDICAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES
COLLABORATION WITH AL-BASAR INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION AND YABA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY LAGOS NIGERIA
HCFI Collaborated with Al-Basar International Foundation and Yaba College of Technology to organize a free eye screening and surgical interventions at the College medical centre from May 27 to June 3 2024. A total of 12 HCFI volunteers members participated at the event.
Al-Basar is an international charitable and humanitarian NGO that manages Makkah Specialist Eye Hospitals. The Foundation works for the establishment of specialized eye care centers, conduct of free mobile eye services and school eye health projects towards control of blindness and treatment of eye diseases in developing countries with particular emphasis in Africa and Asia.
COLLABORATION WITH ITUN CENTRAL MOSQUE IPAJA LAGOS
HCFI organized a medical outreach on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Itun Central Mosque, Ayobo lpaja, about 124 patients were attended to. Tests done include Random Blood Sugar/Fasting Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, HIV Screening
There was a free one year LASHMA registration for 69 persons. HCFI referred most hypertensive and diabetes patients to nearby primary healthcare centres for proper management and care. 8 HCFI Volunteers participated in the program. There was also Health talk on cholera and its prevention.
COLLABORATION WITH MSSN OGUDU-OJOTA CENTRAL BRANCH LAGOS
HCFI in collaboration with MSSN Ogudu-Ojota Central Branch organized a medical outreach. Health talk on “Managing Mental Health in this Economy” on the 29th September, 2024 at Orelope Mosque, 42 Alh Amoo street, Ojota, Lagos. The test carried out include Blood sugar and blood pressure check for 100 persons. There was a practical session on Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and choke relief during emergency. Total of 158 people were participated.
BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN
HCFI members attended the 10th edition of Safe Blood Campaign by Lagos State Blood Transfusion Service on March 11th 2024 virtually. HCFI also secured 4 pints of blood free of charge for a relative of TMC Lagos State EXCO at Gbagada General Hospital Lagos during the month of April
HEPATITIS B AWARENESS SEMINAR
HCFI organized a Hepatitis B awareness seminar at an event centre at Jumofac Junction Harouna Bus Stop Ikorodu on Tuesday 18th April, 2024 with 4 members and Dr Olaitan Balikis of New Gate Hospital Ikorodu. Attendance: 100 persons were vaccinated free of charge.
PARTICIPATION AT THE ISLAMIC MEDICAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (IMAN) ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE AND MEDICAL/SURGICAL OUTREACHES 2024
HCFI members attended the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN) Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference and medical/surgical outreaches September 2-7, 2024, Maiduguri Borno State. The Executive Director, HCFI, Prof Ibrahim Oreagba is also the National President of IMAN.
WELFARE ACTIVITIES
HOSPITAL SUPPORT
HCFI raised N2,850,000.00 to support the surgery of a patient Abdullrasheed Qamordeen Laser Surgery. The laser surgery for the removal of kidney stones took place on May 1, 2024 at the Dialyzer Medical Centre, Lagos Nigeria
HCFI raised over N3,000,000.00 to support the surgery of a patient Fatima Kobomoje. The surgery took place on Friday July 5, 2024 at the Federal Medical Center Abeokuta. It was successful Alhamdulillah. Post surgical care was also covered by HCFI.
SUPPORT FOR FLOOD VICTIMS
HCFI raised about N1000,000.00 to support the flood victims in Maiduguri recently. The money has been disbursed accordingly.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
HCFI spent over N750,000.00 to support about 10 students for their undergraduate education in the year under review. HCFI scholarship program has supported over fifty (50) indigent students since inception in the year 2018 to date. The initiative is being funded by some HCFI members in Nigeria and diaspora. HCFI hereby calls on everyone for financial support for our indigent students.
